I’m Daniel, the founder of Shorthand, a content writing agency based in beautiful Orange County California. Thanks for stopping by our newly minted website, and sharing in our new adventure together.
Starting this business has been a dream of mine for a few years. I’ve had the chance to work as a professional content writer and marketer for over five years now, and have always dreamed of opening a boutique agency just for content writing.
I believe that more than anything else, the right words can make a massive difference to the way your business is perceived. Today in a multimedia world, we get overwhelmed by video and images. But what we forget is that words are what gives context to everything.
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but you still need the words to explain the meaning.
Why Shorthand?
It’s sort of silly, really. My last name is Midson-Short, and I’m often called ‘Shorty’ by friends. So I figured that Shorthand was a cute name.
On top of this, I’ve always been fascinated with the way we shorten language through slang and emojis. They are a form of cultural shorthand that we have adopted in the modern world.
The ability to write something interesting and impactful is an art and a science. I’ve invested over 15 years studying this craft, and love it more every day.
For me, there is nothing better than seeing a business owner fall in love with the tagline or slogan we create. The joy of seeing a business grow because a marketing campaign is hitting.
Great content creates great marketing
All great marketing is based on knowing the customer inside out. I learned this from Peter Drucker, who said, “Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two–and only two–basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs. Marketing is the distinguishing, unique function of the business.”
I believe that marketing means bringing your product or service to the market in a way that makes people say ‘I get it.’ Your potential customer should immediately be able to see how the product or service you offer is a direct match for their needs or wants.
My hope with Shorthand is to show you how we can provide exactly what you need.
You need a website that communicates directly with potential customers.
You need memorable and persuasive words that hit home.
You need ads that get attention and make people want to buy.
That’s what I believe Shorthand can do for you.
